Pre Symposium President paid a visit to Katharinen libarary in St.Gallen, where a collection of Estonian books were launched 1.5 years ago. She brought some books with her and handed them over to be included in our library.

President Kaljulaid was interested to hear about the Estonians in Switzerland. She appreciated the efforts that such a small group of Estonians are making to bring Estonians together. She reflected the library visit in her blog.

The St.Gallen city council was represented by Mr Markus Buschor (Department Education). He pointed out that Estonians have not only chosen the well known library town to be the home for Estonian books but also have they chosen the city that is famous for books. St.Gallen is the city of books.
Mr Buschor acknowledged the fact that despite Estonian digital society, the Estonians share their passion for hardcopy books.

The library ceremony was accompanied by Chief of Library Mrs Christa Oberholzer and Professor of St.Gallen University Mr Yves Partchefeld. He will direct also the Estonia100 reading series in St.Gallen with four Estonian book authors this autumn (23.Sept, 19.Oct, 16.Nov ja 2.Dec).

The President was accompanied by Swiss Ambassador Rein Oidekivi and Honorary Consul Hans Graf.
